Library

Brenham Christian Academy provides a cataloged library of books that support the learning objectives of the instructional program of the school. The school library helps carry out the mission of BCA. The collections and services are developed with the school's Christian philosophy and goals in view. The library is available to serve as a resource for staff and students.

The library has been established to provide the following:

  • Books which espouse Christian values;
  • Material that offers insight and understanding into philosophical thought contrary to Christian truth without making it desirable to emulate;
  • Reference material that will encourage student research;
  • Wholesome recreational reading.

Parents and students shall be informed that the books selected for the library shall not all be Christian or acceptable to every family. Because it is the school's desire to teach students to critically evaluate what they read, some non-Christian material will be included. It is important for parents to know that they should be actively involved in helping their children evaluate what they read and further censor where they feel it is necessary.

The purpose of the library is to:

  • Uphold the Word of God and the philosophy and goals of the institution of which it is a part;
  • Encourage spiritual learning and growth of students;
  • Provide Christian literature not readily found in public or other secular libraries;
  • Provide material appropriate to the mental, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and interests of BCA and its users;
  • Provide resources to the BCA students.
