In Christ we have obtained an inheritance…

that we should be to the praise of His glory.

--Ephesians 1:11-12

Heritage defined: noun, [F. from the root of heir]. Inheritance; an estate that passes from an ancestor to an heir. In Scripture, the people of God are called His heritage claimed by Him and objects of His special care.  --Webster’s 1828 Dictionary

The Heritage of the Past is the Seed that

Brings Forth the Harvest of the Future

Throughout the “envisioning years” at Brenham Christian Academy, a unique heritage has evolved, one that grew out of the growing knowledge of the administration and faculty of an understanding of the principles of Christian education and the Christian idea of man and government. We have come to realize that our Brenham Christian Academy heritage is the result of His love, special care, and provisions for this school as we have learned from Him and that heritage provides the solutions for a nation at risk!

Our Sacred Commitment

Every student is uniquely precious to the Lord and to us. We believe that each one is chosen and placed at Brenham Christian Academy for God’s purposes, and we are thankful for the honor and joy of serving in such a vital and worthy way. Therefore, the Brenham Christian Academy family of school board, faculty, staff, parents, and students all share in supporting the following sacred commitment:

1. Spiritual Stature of our Students

We are committed to the development of the spiritual stature in our students, bringing them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord unto the fullest respective stature their tender years afford. This is done through all programs, activities, and curricula of the school. The Biblical principle approach does not just “integrate” truth into the subject content, or “tack on” a Christian appearance; it approaches the subject assuming that all knowledge is the knowledge of God and then identifies the principles of the subject that reflect that knowledge, whether it is algebra, reading, basketball or study habits. Care has been taken to insure that activities in the life of our school consistently direct our children unto full spiritual stature.

2. Academic Excellence

We are committed to academic excellence, cultivating the fullest expression of the individual through instruction, inspiration, and consecration in intellectual, physical and social pursuits. This is accomplished in the classroom by establishing excellent standards, and enlightened curriculum, and by the practice of reflective learning, Biblical reasoning, writing, and reading. The record of our students in district, regional, and state competitions with other private schools is distinctive. The tutorial emphasis allows every child to learn by receiving help or enrichment as needed. In athletics, art, drama, chorus, as well as in every academic subject, we call forth the STANDARD OF CHRIST in whom resides all excellence.

3. Character Development

We are committed to the character development of every student—bringing to bear the discipline and conviction of Christian self-government. True Christian character is a thing of great beauty and value. All the spiritual knowledge, academic achievement, or athletic prowess in the world cannot succeed without a character molded and strengthened by truth unto usefulness. We design classroom procedures, teaching methods, policies, discipline techniques, athletic programs, and dress code with this goal in mind. Our curriculum is filled with models of great character which inspire and offer vision to our students.

4. Leadership Skills for Service

We are committed to cultivating leadership skills for service in the next generation. Leadership Is serving! We envision that every student will learn to reach outside himself or herself to offer a unique contribution to the Lord, becoming others-centered, and taking a responsible place in God’s greater purposes. The leadership/servanthood model is the heart of the high school leadership training. High school students serve the school in a variety of areas, where students learn to govern various areas of the high school. Middle school and junior high students serve teachers through the Young Active Christians (YAC) club. Special programs within the school, service projects within the local community, international outreach, as well as other ministry planned during the annual leadership retreat contribute to fulfilling this purpose. Our students learn to act responsibly toward each other and develop sensitivity and awareness of needs. Missions are periodically emphasized and older students take mission trips associated with their church affiliation.

The student who progresses through the grades of our school along with the support and encouragement of the parents and the church, best exhibits the spiritual stature, the academic excellence, the character, and the leadership/servanthood skills so needed in this generation, and best represents Our Brenham Christian Academy Heritage.
