History of Brenham Christian Academy

Brenham Christian Academy (BCA) began in August 1993 under the leadership of Diane Keller as a ministry of Brenham Community Bible Church (now Brenham Bible Church) with two primary goals:

  1. Offer a Christian Secondary School to Washington County and surrounding area families
  2. Provide an educational environment that would stress a biblical worldview, Christian character traits, and solid academics

BCA opened its first year of school with 45 students in grades 6-9, and four years later saw the nine members of the Class of 1997 leave BCA as its first graduates.

After adding 5th grade in 2000 and 4th grade in 2002, BCA had grown to over 100 students, and Brenham Bible Church decided that the school was stable enough to stand on its own.  That February, Brenham Christian Academy became an independent Christian school.  At the time of BCA’s separation from Brenham Bible Church, the school paid the church half the appraised value of their 45-acre tract of land on South Blue Bell Road and moved to that location in August 2002.  It was also during 2002 that Diann Marley became Assistant Administrator of BCA before assuming her present position as BCA’s Principal in 2005.

During the 2006-2007 school year, BCA’s founding Head of School, Diane Keller, announced her intention to retire in May 2007.  In January 2007, the BCA Board of Trustees appointed Diann Marley as Interim Head of School and launched a nationwide search for a new Head of School.  This culminated when BCA’s present Head, Noel Scoggins, began his tenure in April 2008.

The 2008-2009 school year saw BCA expand once more to become a 3rd-12th Grade school.  Having converted all its available space into classrooms to accommodate this growth, BCA also added a building that Fall to expand and renovate its Administrative offices.

What does the future hold for BCA?  Literally, God only knows.  With His grace and guidance, it is our hope to expand to a K-12 school and to build a permanent multi-purpose building in the very near future.  Suffice it to say, we are excited to cooperate with God as He continues to write the BCA story.
